The Environmental Conservation Corps (“ECC”) program serves the lowcountry region by performing home weatherization and energy upgrade retrofits, as well as performing environmental conservation projects in our community.
We recruit local at-risk young adults aged 17-25 that may be facing barriers to employment and they become “Corpsmembers” in our program. Corpsmembers serve in terms that can be 3 month (450 hour), 4 month (650 hour), 6 month (900) hour or 12 month (1,700 hour) terms.
Corpsmembers are compensated during their service with a stipend or living allowance and often receive an education award or scholarship upon completing their service. Additionally, Corps provide participants educational programming, mentoring, and access to career and personal counseling.
