Workshops
The Sustainability Institute's mission is to build the capacity in others to lead a more efficient lifestyle. Our free workshops provide a way to transfer knowledge regarding various topics in sustainability to the greater public. We offer workshops every month that provide a foundation for making your home and life more energy-efficient and sustainable. Upon a per-demand basis, we also offer workshops in a variety of topics and can take the workshop 'on the road' for communities outside of our partnering neighborhoods.

Green Cities Initiative
The Green Cities Initiative is an effort to bring together the efforts of local government, city staff, businesses and other organizations to coordinate strategies that promote sustainable development, grow green industry and enhance quality of life.
The purpose of the Green Cities Initiative is to create strategies and goals that promote sustainable development and encourage cooperative problem solving to address the environmental, economic, and social challenges we face today.

Weatherization Outreach
The Sustainability Institute offers weatherizations for low-income homes that leak a tremendous amount of energy through the building envelope. With the help of neighborhood associations, the Institute is able to identify homes in need of a weatherization and with an eager crew of volunteers at hand, the S.I. staff will install energy-efficient and water-saving fixtures into the home free of charge to the homeowner.
The Institute has recently started a Weatherization Crew - a team of volunteers who enjoy coming out and performing weatherizations with the S.I. Staff. If you want to sign up to be on the Weatherization Crew, please visit our Weatherization page to sign up!

Sustainable Community Awards
The Sustainability Institute recognizes that there are many people, business and organizations that are working hard to make our environment more sustainable. The S.I. Sustainable Community Awards recognizes one individual, one business and one non-profit every year that have gone the extra mile in sustainability.
