MILITARY SERVICE VETERANS

A New Kind of Service for America.
A New Opportunity for Leadership.”

Our initiative for military service veterans started in 2014 as an expansion of our existing Corps program with the support of the South Carolina Commission – AmeriCorps, Boeing Corporation, and Social Venture Partners of Charleston.

With thousands of veterans returning to South Carolina from active service each year or retiring from service, it’s the duty and responsibility of our communities to help them successfully transition to civilian life and to find permanent and good paying jobs.

CONTINUE TO SERVE

These honorable service men and women often have well-developed leadership abilities and skills that are easily transferable to construction trades and specialized industry job opportunities. “Retooling” their skills for these jobs consists of providing new opportunities to excel in a structured environment with resources at their fingertips, such as best-in-class certification training.

Our veteran Corps members earn multiple, advanced industry certifications that qualifies them for in-demand jobs in the energy efficiency/building performance industry. Along the way, they continue their service to America as they put their new skills to test repairing and upgrading homes for low-income families, many of whom are also retired military.
